What to Wear:
Prepare for Eastern Panhandle weather with days of high humidity and rain. The temperatures may range from the high 70s to over 100 degrees most days with potential of colder evenings. With such a wide variety of weather, we suggest packing options. The theaters are all air-conditioned, but outdoor areas are subject to what is known as an often hot and muggy West Virginia summer.
Company Members may want to dress up and celebrate during the Season. None of our events are formal, but photographers, members of the press, and our Board of Trustees may attend and seize photo opportunities. Many of our events take place in the evenings outdoors on campus, and a few select events are off campus in local establishments.
Bring your swimsuit as pools are available for use on campus. And you may also choose to enjoy a swim in the Potomac River!
Please refrain from wearing any clothing seen as offensive or having inflammatory messages or images.
We advise Stage Management to bring comfortable clothing to support ease of movement and to wear closed-toe shoes during rehearsal and production. Starting with Tech Rehearsals, the SM Team will wear all-black clothing allowing freedom of movement. In addition, they will wear black closed-toe shoes if they need to go on stage.
Production Staff will wear clothing that ensures a safe work environment. When working in the shop, closed-toe shoes are required, and most Staff Members are encouraged to wear composite or steel toe shoes/boots while working. Please avoid loose or baggy clothing due to the snagging issue that comes with it. For those with longer hair, please come prepared to tie hair back. And please keep all large jewelry pieces secured and safely away from tools.
Run Crew Members will wear black clothing including shoes, should they need to go on stage.
Those working in the Costumes Department are required to wear closed toe shoes to work. It is suggested to wear layers as you move about spaces as temperatures may vary. A black apron for backstage will be provided, but you are welcome to bring any personal items as well.
Those working in the Electrics Department are required to use a safety lanyard on your lighting wrench and be able to fasten it to your body securely. Pants or jeans with belt loops are the best options. However, other methods are acceptable as long as the tool is securely attached to your person when working above others.
The Front of House Team will wear casual business attire and comfortable shoes when working regular shifts before performances. CATF will provide two Festival Team T-shirts to wear with jeans or black bottoms and comfortable shoes for the performances. In addition, there will be specific days when the Team will need closed-toe shoes.
Members of the Administration and Education Teams will wear clean casual work appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes when working in the CATF offices. When interacting with the public directly, please wear casual business attire. CATF will provide one Festival Team T-shirt to wear once the Festival is open for when working any public event.
Company Management Team Members will wear comfortable clean casual work appropriate clothing that is easy to move in, with comfortable closed-toe shoes. When working outdoors or in company housing clothing to support ease of movement and to wear closed-toe shoes is allowed. Workout wear is not appropriate when in the CATF offices. When directly interacting with Guest Artists, always wear clean casual clothing and comfortable shoes. CATF will provide one Festival Team T-shirt to wear once the Festival is open for when working any public event.
