If you are arriving by Automobile:
Please use 92 West Campus Drive, Shepherdstown, WV 25443 when using a GPS device. Additionally, please provide Company Management with an estimated ETA before travel, and then as your trip progresses, plan on sending a text or calling when you are 1-hour from your exact arrival time. An alert will ensure that a member of Company Management is available to greet you upon arrival.
Shepherdstown is a college town, and the local authorities are aware of the dates and times of our events. Please be very careful when driving in this area. Do not drive if you will be consuming adult beverages. Driving under the influence (DUI) is taken very seriously, and there is no tolerance for this by the local authorities.
Please be aware of the speed limits and traffic signs when you come into town. The local police and Shepherd University police are very strict about speed limits, stop signs, and traffic regulations. Many surrounding states, including West Virginia, require hands-free cell phone devices. Follow Speed Limits (usually 15 or 25 mph in town) and come to a complete and total stop at every stop sign. Please drive safely.
Parking on campus is open to everyone and in ample supply during the summer, except for those marked for Accessibility, Residence Life, or CATF owned vehicles.
When parking off-campus in Shepherdstown, there are a variety of options. Spaces range from 90 minutes to 10 hours. And the city has street signs indicating the parking limitations. Surrounding the downtown area are parking meters with a small fee. Parking officials monitor the meters in Shepherdstown very closely. Meters are enforced Monday through Friday from 8 am till 6 pm. DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
FROM WASHINGTION, DC/BALTIMORE: Take I-270 North to Frederick Bypass, I-70 West; From I-70, take Route 340 West (exit 52) towards Charles Town, WV. Take Route 230 (just past Harpers Ferry) to Shepherdstown. Route 230 turns into Washington Street. At the second 4-way stop, turn right onto Duke Street. As you approach the Center for Contemporary Art/Phase I, stay on Shepherdstown Pike/Duke Street instead of turning onto West Campus Drive. Take the next LEFT onto Shepherd Grade Road. Take the first LEFT off of Shepherd Grade Road to pull into the Marinoff Theater Parking Lot.
ALTERNATE ROUTE: Take I-270 North to Frederick Bypass, I-70 West; Take Exit 49, Turn Left on 40 Alt. to Braddock Heights-Boonsboro; Turn Left in Boonsboro on MD 34 to Shepherdstown. As you cross the bridge over the Potomac River into West Virginia, take the second RIGHT hand turn onto Shepherd Grade Road. Take the first LEFT off Shepherd Grade Road to pull into the Marinoff Theater Parking Lot.
**It is not recommended to take this route around Memorial Day as Sharpsburg closes down for a parade that can cause delays of over 2 hours.
FROM LEESBURG, VA: Take Route 7 to Route 9 through Charles Town, WV to Kearneysville, WV; Turn Right on Route 480 (Kearneysville Pike). Route 480 becomes Shepherdstown Pike/Duke Street. As you approach the Center for Contemporary Art/Phase I stay on Shepherdstown Pike/Duke Street instead of turning onto West Campus Drive. Take the next LEFT onto Shepherd Grade Road. Take the first LEFT off of Shepherd Grade Road to pull into the Marinoff Theater Parking Lot.
FROM WINCHESTER, VA: Take Exit 16 off of I-81 and turn RIGHT onto Route 9 East into Martinsburg. Take Route 9 to the Leetown/Kearneysville Pike (Route 480) exit and continue towards Shepherdstown. Route 480 becomes Shepherdstown Pike/Duke Street. As you approach the Center for Contemporary Art/Phase I stay on Shepherdstown Pike/Duke Street instead of turning onto West Campus Drive. Take the next LEFT onto Shepherd Grade Road. Take the first LEFT off of Shepherd Grade Road to pull into the Marinoff Theater Parking Lot.
